I ask because I want to know if this is your computer or your Parent's computer. :)

Where did you receive it from, if you don't mind me asking? Is this your computer, as in you own it, or do your parents own it?

Usually Magic Desktop/Easybits is installed by (what I consider to be) over-protective parents. It just seemed weird that it would be on an adult-with-no-kids' PC. This wouldn't be the first time a young person went online to try find out how to get around parent controls without admitting it.

Type msconfig into the start menu and open it. See what programs you have set to run at start-up. Do you see anything related to Ask.com/Ask toolbar?

Ask.com or toolbar isn't there but there is however,

    Easybits Recovery ?

Do you want the list of programs that appear on startup ?

As for the parent thing. It was just a pre-installed app from hp as well as all the other stuff like hp assisstant etc.

Look in Programs and Features for the Ask Toolbar. It looks like it was installed along with Open Office. It's mostly junk software, and I think getting rid of it would be best.
