new install but graphics problem

i've just installed windows 7 on my computer (pentiumIV 3ghz, 1 gb ram). Despite of the relative low amount of RAM, it's going smooth. But there is one big problem.

when something moves (ie a rollout menu) the text is spread out and you can see stripes on the screen. It's very diffucult to explain, and when i take a print screen it's not visible.

What can i do about this? is this because my computer doesn't meet the requirements?

We will need more system specs on your PC but just off the top of my head I would say you need more RAM

Is that still the AGP 8X or is it PCI Express? Also what PSU are you running on this. It seems that your hardware is not really up to scratch for Windows 7

Sounds like you have a relay old PC and the equipment in that might not work with Windows 7. I say go back to xp and see if that fixes your problem. If that laptops relay old it might be cheaper just to buy a new one then to try and upgrade that thing. The sad thing with lap tops they relay are made to be disposable
you might not recall this but when vista hit the shelf people refused to install it on their pc becaus a lot of stuff did not work or run on an 64bit os. A lot of people i know had to stick with xp becaus a program they used DNR on vista and the same can be sed for Windows 7

Yours is an entirely different problem as you have an Intel 915 chipset.

Please don't hijack this thread but start your own instead.

Thanks

I don't see an issue with him 'hijacking' this thread as it's over a month old and may spur others to solve the original OP's issue too

The Intel 915 GFX chipset does infact work with Windows 7 as my old laptop (XP) worked fine but you won't get Aero effects working.

I would look at http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...01&FamilyId=39 and see if there is a compatible driver available. Looks like there is 1 for every version of Windows 7 which indicated that it's a universal driver.

Hope it helps

I would install the GFX driver first as it should eliminate the 'Unknown driver' from device manager. Once installed if you have no conflicting drivers then you have no need to install chipset drivers.
Note   Note
If your chipset drivers were an issue then you would no doubt be offered some via Windows Update
