boot related problem caused by graphics card/drivers?

hi, usually my computer starts right up and the monitor lights up as well. sometimes tho, the computer seems to start, but the monitor on light keeps flashing and monitor doesnt light up. I hear the motherboard beep ok, then I hear the windows music playing (the welcome to windows 7 screen music) so it seems the computer function is working, just the monitor doesnt light up. so I hit reset and it works fine. happens about every 7 or 8 boot ups. suggestions? Check your monitor cable connection
Make sure your video card is seated properly
Check device manager to see if there is a video error
Download and install the latest video driver
Check your Event Viewer for any error messages

    This.

Also, when this happens, try turning the monitor off, then back on. Any luck? If not, jiggle the monitor cord (at the computer) to see if it is just loose.
