Standard VGA (Asus) does not detect dual monitor with Win 7

    HI All,

its been 24 hours since my Win 7 ultimate edition installation, and still i have not managed to get my dual monitor working.

I was running Vista OS for 2 years and was working everything fine. But now with Win 7 my second monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 2333) is not being detected.

I went in the Asus driver page and it seems that for the Standard Vga grafic card there is still no driver for Win 7, is this possible?

If it is really like that, how can I get my dual monitor working? I thought about buying an external graphic card...is this the only solution or am i missing something?

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Gabriele

To tell you the truth i heard ways of doing this but your onboard vga adapt might not be strong enough for dual screen support

I can tell you i run dual monitors off the same vidcard im sure i can throw a third one in the mix off my vga but your mobo should give you the specs on the onboard adapter where it should give you in full detail the capabilities

If not i suggest getting a video card that fits the bill also make sure you have adaquete power to supply the card or the upgrade will be meaningless

    Hi Solarstarshines,

thanks for your quick reply and support.

My standard VGA while running Vista OS was able to run dual monitor and HDMI, i've tried and update the drivers but it tells me that the ones running are the latest.

Could it really be that my onboard grafic card does not have dual monitor Win 7 compatible drivers? Seems strange to me that with Vista was working and Win 7 not..

    any clue?

    Thanks,
    Gabriele

    Never mind i solved it.

I forgot i had an Nvidia GEForce 9300 on board, not just a standard VGA..the thing is that the standard VGA was recognized, and everytime i tried to update the drivers it told me that they were the latest.

What it did was to set windows to find updates and install them automatically, then after doing that, magically my drivers of the grafic card could manually be update...sad but true..
Even though it was supposed to be active the manual update of the drivers it was not until i set windows as default for updating the drivers automatically.

    Thanks for the help anyways!
