Unfortuantely if it has overheated a number of times it may be damaged now. Even moderate heating may now be causing a chip to lift from the PCB. Todays leadless solder is EXTREMELY intolerant to stress caused by heating and cooling cycles. Cracked solder pads are very common. It seems to be the #1 cause of video card failure over the last few years.
If the card is still under warrenty I'd have it replaced ASAP.
