I have an ATi Radeon 9200 too,

    I just did this

"Install xp driver from the 6.11 catalyst pack manually. It allows you to set your optimal resolution, however you won't be able to shut down your computer regulary, you will get blue screen.
To install the xp driver manually, download this pack, and after it unpack itself to c:\, exit the installer. Then go to device manager, and select "Update Driver Software". Select "Browse my computer..." and set the "ATI" folder on C:\. That's all.
I think the main problem is there isn't any vista driver to radeon 9200."

Sleep and hibernate functions don't work (shutdown and restart work fine and i haven't got any blue screen), but now i can set my best resolution (1680x1050) and play some games (like Warcraft 3 and windows' games: chess, hearts, checkers...)
It isn't the complete solution but is better than nothing...

[Sorry my bad english, i hope you understand..]

I dont think you will ever be able to fix those problems unless some developer can somehow make drivers that give your card hardware support for WDDM 1.0 or 1.1. I would go spend $70 and buy a 3000+ series.

    Ati 9200 working with win7

I have an Ati 9200 on my Compaq desktop and I followed a procedure similar to Alexb's. Now I get the native resolution of the 17" screen (1280x1024) crisp and clear and no BSOD on exit. I use the computer mainly for work, music and movies and in this areas the result is simply superb. I don't bother if aero doesn't work since I consider it a useless crap. And I don't like games on PC. So I'm quite satisfied having saved 70$ (or 50€).

    ATI 9200 on 7

Well I actually followed that procedure: I installed first manually the XP drivers and then, manually too, the 6.14 release. And it works fine.

Finally!!Best Solution Found!! 2006 driver by microsoft

    Hey Guys,
To all of you who were searching for a suitable driver of you compaq nx 7010 on windows 7, one that wont restart or not respond after sleep or hibernate, i finally found the latest and most functional driver ever!Where? in windows vista Drivestore!!!!!
Previously, when I had vista os on my pc I noticed that in Vista Drivestore ,inside the XDDM Driver provided by microsoft there is a hidden or removed driver for ATI Mobility Radeon 9200, but when i used that on vista, the screen flickering didnt go!But recently i read some article somewhere on the web that windows 7 corrected lots of the flickerings and display errors of windows vista so i decided to give it a try!! and it worked PERFECTLY!!!!!!!!
All u have to do is go to any PC having Windows Vista, browse C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and copy the folder called "atiixpag.inf_x86***"(* means bla bla bla in pc language) copy it to your Flash disk, take it to ur windows 7,inside this folder right click and edit the file called "atiixpag.inf" to make the hidden drivers visible, go to the title called [ATI.Mfg.NTx86] in the notepad, underneath it remove all the ";" from the line beginings. Voalla!! [ATI.Mfg.NTx86] should look like this: [ATI.Mfg.NTx86]
    "RADEON FIRE GL 8800 (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM)" = ati2mtag_R200GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5148&SUBSYS_110A1002

    "RADEON IGP 340M (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM)" = ati2mtag_RS200M, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4337

now to the device manager, right click on ur graphic card press "Update Driver", Browse to this INF file, remove the click "Show only compatable hardware" and pick "ATI MOBILITY/RADEON 9200 Secondary (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM)" !!
Note: If you copy paste the [ATI.Mfg.NTx86] I provided insde your inf file to replace the one there all of you who have nx 7000 or 7010 wont even need to remove the click "Show only compatable hardware" because I changed the Hardware IDs to become compeletely compatable, you can do that by getting your VGA ID from Device Manager and paste it after the "," of your selected driver

It worked perfectly for me!! hope it does for you!!

ah i missed the mod edit by 5 hours! can you email me the files please as i dont have access to vista right now?

    Thanks!

nvm found them! in the quote lol

my monitor says out of range when i try to set the native res, any ideas?

i can only see windows if i start windows in low res mode, the refresh rate says (from my monitor menu) that its 50Hz, i used powerstrip to force 50hz at 1024 by 768 and my monitor displayed that. (Drivers dont exist for this old cheap monitor). however once i restarted the settings were lost and now i cant force that res anymore so im stuck in low res mode!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Max
