Still standard VGA in 7 64bit (NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS)

Hey, I've been looking through tons of threads in regards to the recognition of the mobile GPU in windows 7. I unfortunately haven't been able to resolve my problem with the threads that have been posted up so far, so I decided to register and make a thread of my own. I figured maybe my model isn't compatible for the same methods.
    My specs are:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
    Sony Vaio VGN-SZ680
    (RAM etc not really necessary)

I messed up alot and got no where so I used Driver Sweeper to get rid of any remnants of the programs.

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried the Nvidia Drivers at NVIDIA & Laptop News | Latest NVIDIA drivers and related news | laptopvideo2go.com along with their Modded INFs? They generally fix the problem of mobile chipsets not being recognized.

Most laptops use there on modified drivers. have you tried Sony to get the original drivers form Sony?

    Welcome to SevenForums
If Sony doesn't have a video driver that will work which I don't see one listed for Ultimate 64bit Sony eSupport - VGN-SZ680 - Software Updates & Drivers

So I like to have people download the latest driver for their card from Nvidia NVIDIA DRIVERS 258.96 WHQL

Then use this tool to modify the .inf file, it's easy to use just follow the directions the modding tool download is on the bottom of the page NVIDIA MobilityModder

Please post back if you've been successful or if you need further help. Thanks. Fabe
