Widescreen on 1024x768 resolution

Some time ago, I purchased a Sharp XR-32X DLP with nativ resolution 1024x768.
I also built my own screen but decided to make it in 16:9 format, since most movies are in this standard.

Now to the problem:
Is there a way to limit the desktop to 16:9?

I don't want to change the resolution to 1024x576 since this is not supported by the projector, i only would like to limit the desktop to this resolution.
I also don't want the projector to streach the image, since this distorts the image maging circles oval etc.

This would mean having black stripes both over and under the picture which is fine!

Thankful for tips...

Are you running in cloned? If so, then no.

If you run extended, then just set the monitors individually.
