Yeah, I think it can't be fixed, but if you got any other Ideas feel free to post. Thanks.

What I have been doing to get Starcraft 1 to work all the time is the following:
I want to note that I have suggested this many times and everyone hates it but it does work.
1) Reboot your computer. (Do not open any other application, no IE, no iTunes, no Torrent software, no IM, no extras.)
2) If you have tray software, iTunes or IM software that opens automatically EXIT them all.
3) Open a Command Prompt. (Optional)
4) Exit Explorer.exe (all explorer.exe)
5) Play Starcraft 1
6) Reboot computer. (via Command Prompt if open)
This seems to work every time, without lockups, crashes, color issues etc. etc.
I get a lot of static because people don't want to reboot twice, but it works! -WS
Tis sad really. Total Annihilation came out about a year before Starcraft, and it is capable of using resolutions beyond what there was back then, it fully accepts my 1920x1200 monitor making the viewpoint fit perfectly. Wish all old games did that.
This may or not be completely accurate but it's along these lines:
Windows 7 introduced WDDM 1.1 which, I believe, forces the Taskbar to appear in front of StarCraft's window and messes up the color palette in the process.
Killing explorer.exe gets rid of the Taskbar, and StarCraft 1 isn't forced into an odd color palette.
If you doubt it is the problem, then that means you know what the issue is? Killing explorer is a very documented solution/workaround to getting StarCraft 1 to play, so if you are unwilling to give that a shot, I would then suggest buying StarCraft II, as the game play is nearly identical.
