Windows 7 and built-in graphics cards. Help.

I have a laptop(Acer Aspire 9300), and my graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce Go 6100.

Seven refuses to recognize said graphic card, insisting that in it's place, is a Standard VGA Graphic Adapter. Because of this, my screen resolution is amazingly low.

Proper drivers have been installed several times. I read something about having to manually install the drivers... but didn't fully comprehend.

After some research, I found that Seven has troubles with graphic cards built into the motherboard.

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    NVIDIA MobilityModder - DriverHeaven.net

If you still need help after, I'll create custom strings for you to install with. They can be placed in the .inf

Let me know how this goes for you.

    It works well but....

Right click on the video adapter in device manager under display adapter section. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste results to here. I can edit the .inf for you.

In the meantime, clear your system of all driver folders you've attempted.

Download the latest Catalyst for desktop models from Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM -
    "Full Catalyst Software Suite (Recommended)"

Run the .exe and let it extract to C:\ATI

After extract, close installer and await further instructions. And please tell me are you using x86 or x64?

Will the catalyst still work if the video card is an Nvidia?

I'm not entirely sure if my laptop is an x86 or x64. It's an AMD Turion 64x2, so would that be x64?

Under Hardware ID's, I still can only find the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, which shows this:

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0247&SUBSYS_01121025&REV_A2
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0247&SUBSYS_01121025

No, it won't work. My mistake.

Get this for GeForce 8 series instead - Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Right now though, type "system information" in start menu search box, hit enter. Double click system summary. Tell me what it says next to system type.

Here, Nevermind that. This is for x86.

After you download what I said, extract it to C:\NVIDIA

When extracting is done, close the installer.

Download my attachment and extract that to desktop.

Copy and paste NV_DISP.inf directly overwriting the original at C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\191.07\WinVista_Win7\English

Then go to device manager. Right click card. Update driver software. Browse. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Now navigate to

    C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\191.07\WinVista_Win7\English

    and double click on NV_DISP.inf.

Hit ok and let it install.

    Reboot.

    Then run setup.exe in

    C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\191.07\WinVista_Win7\English

to get the display panel control application.

    Enjoy.

Hello, so this seems to be the first place I've found that has a working solution to this problem.

Same problem but different laptop and card.
    HP Pavillion dv6500

    Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS
    and umm 32bit.

If you might possibly be able to help I would be very grateful.
