AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series GPU's official thread.

So here are the first official pictures of both the HD 6850 and HD 6870:

    Radeon HD 6870

    Radeon HD 6850

The NDA for performance tests expires on Friday the 22nd. But as a sneak preview, here's something I found over @ Hardforum.com (grain of salt as always):

    Dirt 2
    1920 x 1080
    8x AA, 16x AF
    Intel Core-i7 920, 6GB DDR3 Ram
    1120 meaning 'Radeon HD 6870'
    920 meaning 'Radeon HD 6850'

    Comments? =)

pretty good numbers there, but im intrested in the Cayman series, coming late Nov or so they say. I think its called the 6950? It's meant to replace and be better then the 5870.

Even the old Nvidia 9000 series have a memory interface of 256-bit

yea i know older cards but i am talking about the fact im running a hd 5770 diamond card and it is 128 bit i know there are lesser cards that have that but to be as much cost as the card was at the time you would figure ati would make it 256 instead of 128 and you basicly have to buy a high end 5800 gpu to really get the full benefits

other then that im sure the new gpu will be atleast 328 bit and the 6900 series 512bit

Most people out there thought the same thing not that while ago (including myself), but actually, Northern Islands is a completely new architecture.

Just blows me away whenever you can see the inside blown up picture of what goes into that little silicone chip and what it can do.
And with 25% less silicone, makes you wonder where we'll be in another 4-5 years.
