Massive Heat I have a very annoying issue my graphics display drivers always seem to fail when I run graphically intense games, games like Dawn of war soulstorm and basically any none graphically instense games I can run for a very long time no problem I've gone a full 8 hours without a problem, but when I play GTA 4 Dawn of 2 Crysis at full settings my graphics card gives out alot of heat, were talking heat coming out of the vents in my case like crazy, now I was just wondering I have an obsidian 800D and only have two case fans and the cpu is stock cooled, if I had some more fans would it remedy the situation or am I looking at a bigger problem? | My System Specs |

ayou could increase case ventilation, but as you say, there's a deeper issue that really needs addressing and diagnosing, rather than simply masking up the symptoms by blowing the hot air away.
is this a new card, has it only started doing this, only after installing new drivers, for example?
is the fan working correctly on the gfx card itself? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number mickey megabyte 1234 OS ultimate 64 sp1 CPU i5 2500K 3.3@4.2GHz Motherboard MSI P67A-GD53 Memory 8 gigs GSkill Ripjaws 1600 Graphics Card amd hd6950 Sound Card creative x-fi gamer Monitor(s) Displays samsung 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard saitek eclipse ii Mouse logitech g3 PSU antec 550 Case antec three hundred Cooling i'm a cooling fan Hard Drives ocz vertex 2e 60 gig, samsung f3 1tb, buffalo 2tb ext Internet Speed about 4 Mbps Other Info i love win7 |

Well, the heat part of your problem is nothing out of the ordinary to be quite honest.
The HD 5970 is supposed to run somewhat hot, getting up to ~80 Celsius with ease.
Now, the inability to run graphically intense games, that's the part I'd be worried about, it could be 3 things: - PSU problem
- Faulty card
- Drivers (EVERY post/thread/etc I've ran into, about anything HD 5970 related, has said that 10.5a + latest CAP's = best combo for HD 5970, every other driver/CAP setup = fail).

You can use ATI Tray Tools to stress test the GPU, and find a stable clock rate. Not sure if you can lower stock clocks, as I have nVidia myself. ATI Tray Tools
You can also ask at their Forum
Make sure you monitor GPU temps while doing any testing.

Alright, he is some more information I think it might be something with the drivers because I was playing battle forge and half way through the tutorial it just froze and sent me back to my desktop where i got an error message that said driver can no longer display and then it simply stopped. working completely, not sure if that is exactly what the error said, but it was defintely something about the drivers. Oh and my cpu temps are usually at aroudn 60~70 degrees C but I do plan on getting I much better cpu cooler thats for sure. About the graphics card it's an Asus ares and i would think that the double copper blocks would handle the heat better. | My System Specs | | OS windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU Intel i7 980x Motherboard Asus Rampage III Extreme Memory Corsair 8 GB Dominators Graphics Card ASUS ATI 5970 Monitor(s) Displays HP LP3065 Model EZ320A 30" LCD Monitor Screen Resolution 2560x1600 Keyboard RAZER LYCOSA Mouse Razer Imperator PSU 1000 Watts Antec Tru power Case Obsidian 800D Cooling Liquid Hard Drives 1tb Western digital Black

It could be the drivers or the CPU getting hot or the graphics card.
Read the below. Make the report and post it on the Crashes and Debugging section. They can check the system and give you specific recommendations. I know you aren't having BSOD yet but it has info they can use to assess your system as the games are crashing. http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hopalong/ Godzilla OS Windows7 Pro 64bit SP-1; Windows XP Pro 32bit CPU Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield 2.93GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Motherboard ASUS P7P55D-E PRO Memory 8GB@1400MHz Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600 4x2GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 Sound Card VIA Onboard Monitor(s) Displays Asus VS248H-P 24"; Samsung SyncMaster 941BW 19"ws Screen Resolution 1920x1080; 1440x900 Keyboard Logitech K-320 Mouse Kensington PSU COOLER MASTER Silent Pro RS850-AMBAJ3-US 850W Modular Case COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN5-GP Black Cooling Scythe "Mugen-2 Rev.B" (2 ScytheKaze-Jyuni PWM fans) Hard Drives Samsung 830 120GB SSD

That sounds quite deadly...CPU's should normally be around 55-60 degrees when under load. Indeed it could be a fan aging but also it could indicate a faulty CPU. Also if this CPU is newly installed, did you apply the correct amount of Thermal Paste?
