Worth upgrading older 9600GT to newer GTS 450???

will I notice any difference? Not by charts but by user experience will there be a great enough gain to justify the upgrade or would it be more similar to a side grade??? if it's just a side grade I'll wait until I can buy a GTX 460

    Current card Newegg.com - ASUS EN9600GT TOP/HTDI/512M GeForce 9600 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

    card i'm considering Newegg.com - PNY VCGGTS4501XPB GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

The GTS 450 has three times more processing cores than the 9600 GT so I would imagine it is quite a bit faster.

I used to have an MSI GF9600 GT OC .. and it died. So I got the Asus GTS 450 OC .. and it is alot better than the old 9600. I didn't have to upgrade my PSU either.

I went from a GT 210 to a GTS 450 and I notice the difference.

Noooooooooooo....Us 9xxx users are a dying breed Ah well, I'm still happy with the performance of my lil 9500GTs and at ~$50 a pop, they remain quite affordable. Running most games on Med to High with 1920X1080 res and DX 10 enabled. Latest driver (november) added SLI and increased output for CiV woot woot!

I'm going to say no, you won't.

If you are the average computer user, then watching youtube videos online (or maybe some mild gaming?) is the extend of your graphics card usage. For this, the 9600 is perfectly fine.

However, if that is not you (you will know), then you should upgrade, and you would see a difference.

I'm not an avid PC gamer...but I'm still kicking around with my 9800GTX+ and it's been just fine for the games I have thrown at it. However, a hardcore gamer...would most likely not be satisfied.

my old pc was an AMD 5200x2 with 4 gigs of ram and i turned it into a media center and bought a EVGA gtx460 with HDMI out puts and i am very happy with it. I did have a 9800gt in it and you can not even hear my media center when its running its so quiet. my only gripe is if you turn the fan to 100% it is loud but i not stressing it at all now and its quiet

just a FYI: my MSI GF9600GT OC, the fan was a howler! this Asus GTS 450 OC is very very quiet, I don't even hear it spin up to 100%, or summat, on boot/reboot.
