I have a 4890 now and it works very well for my single monitor gaming. Specifically, I play iRacing mostly.
However, now I have three monitors and want to use all of them for iRacing. Will a 6870 card give me a sufficient upgrade to do this?
With my current 4890 card, using SoftTH I run 3 monitors with an overall resolution of 5760x1200. With 16xAF and 4xAA I get about 30 fps in iRacing. I was really hoping that I would get a significant boost in fps by going to an eyefinity setup with the 6870 card, but after reading this thread, it doesn't look like I will get the performance I want (ideally, I'd like 60 fps).
What do you guys think about getting a 6870 in my case? If it doesn't look attractive, what would you suggest? I really didn't want to spend more than $300, but if I have to, I suppose I'll either have to wait to upgrade, or bite the bullet and find the ducats.
Thoughts?
A 6870 @ 5760x1200 will not net you 60 fps.
Unfortunately for a significant boost, you'll have to outlay more $$$
If multi gpus aren't an option, wait and see what the upcoming 6970 can offer performance wise.
