Turning off auto brightness correction?

Hey all. My father just installed an AGP graphic card (yes, quite old PC), HD 4650 from Gigabyte by ATI. The problem is that after drivers installation some kind of weird automatic gamma/brightness correction kicked in, changing the screens brightness every time it shifted between dark/light images, resulting in a really annoying effect.

I have searched everywhere in ATI CCC, but can't find any options to turn it off. Drivers for the card seems to be up to date as well.

Any ideas about how I can get rid of the feature?

Cronnix:

Welcome to SF!

Right-click Computer and choose Manage
In the window that opens choose Services and Applications/Services
In the new window double-click on the Service name 'Adaptive Brightness' and disable it and Stop the service
OK your way out and see if that makes a difference.

Weirdly, the service is not enabled to begin with, so it gotta be something else that affects brightness. I am using Firefox browser btw, thou I doubt it got any kind of such settings.

Are you sure that your monitor doesn't have something called Dynamic contrast enabled.

Another point is that the correct driver has been installed which will be the AGP version of the latest Catalyst drivers. Also that the previous cards driver has been fully removed first.

You could also check a few things in the Cat Control Centre. In CCC - Desktop Properties - Color, check that ATI color controls is activated, if not click on the reactivate button. Plus, for Video, you could check in CCC - Video - All settings - Enable dynamic contrast - check it is not ticked.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I could not find anything in the monitor settings that would cause such an effect, neither could I find anything in CCC. Drivers are the latest :/
