    ok im having a very frustrating problem


    a couple of days ago i bought a used laptop it had windows xp on it its a inspiron 5150 i then got it upgraded to windows 7 and now it says my video drivers need updating thing is i dont even know what it started out with to even go about looking for the drivers. all i know its sayin it has a standard vga graphics adapter, i tried looking up the make and model of the laptop and it says Nvidia Geforce FX5200 or 4x AGP ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 and i have no idea how to do this its been bugging me for days

    Hello Miaa,

    Welcome to the forums.

    Download, install and run this Speccy - System Information - Free Download

    It should tell you in there what Graphics adaptor you have.

    click start and type: dxdiag

    that should tell you what video card you have

    Go to Dell, here is the link.

    Dell - Drivers and Downloads

    Then input your service tag number, it can be found on the bottom of your laptop. Then it will give you all the drivers for just that laptop model.

    ok i ran speccy and it told me erything i guess.. my next question is how do i change the graphics cause this what it gave me and is this right Operating System

    Did you get any updates at Dell?


    Do as Kword88 posted.
    Post a Snip of what is shown. click start and type: dxdiag

    that should tell you what video card you have

    The upgrade advisor that kword88 linked is a good tip. That way you find out if drivers for this model even exist. if they do, the system should find them automatically.
    You can then try (if they exist) to uninstall the current driver (in Device Manager > Properties of the device > Driver tab) and then you reboot.

    PS: with 512MBs of RAM you are not going to have much fun with Win7 - especially with the single core Pentium. I suggest you upgrade to 2GBs of RAM (if that is possible). You can check by scanning the PC from this site. Then you know the options and the prices.
