Yes, but you need a VGA to DVI adapter. Most GFX cards supply them in the box.

Hi,

Will DVI to DVI card help in improving the screen resolution?

Is there any difference in 24-pin DVI and 19-pin DVI cards?

If you can connect your monitor directly to a DVI port (no VGA converter) then yes the image should be better. VGA is still analog and you need to tune the monitor position and size and all that to get clear text. The DVI port is digital signal to the monitor and you get a perfectly aligned and clear picture all the time. (There may be some other issues if we are talking about a television and not a computer omnitor though).

Dunno tha answer to the second Q.

There is no difference in the digital functionality of the 19 and 24 pin ports found on graphics cards, other than the 19 pin versions do not have the extra connections for an analog monitor (via an adapter) as the extra pins carry the analog signal.

See Digital Visual Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for an explanation.

The following image, taken from the above link, shows the pin layout of the DVI-I connector. The analog pins are those coloured pink, i.e. pin 8 and C1 to C5.
