    Another Resolution Problem

I have a HP Elite 9040n desktop, with a Geforce GT 240 video card, and a Samsung SyncMaster 931b monitor.

My problem is when I use a DVI cable, I only get 3 resolution options of 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x720. But if I use a VGA cable with a DVI adapter there are a bunch of options and the recommended resolution of 1280x1024.

I have updated my monitors drivers from samsung's website, and the video card drivers from Nvidia.

One thing I noticed before I updated my monitor drivers in the screen resolution window under display it listed the monitor as a generic non PnP monitor, now it says display device on: DVI

Anyways I want to figure out how to get a 1280x1024 resolution using the the DVI cable, so i can take advantage of the better graphics - instead of using an adapter... Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Monitor provides EDID to video card and exposes supported resolutions via the driver software. First make sure the EDID is getting read right. Download EnTech Taiwan | Utilities | Monitor Asset Manager and post the REAL-TIME results for your monitor...
