    DX10 & DX11 games

    Hi,

My rig currently has a XFX Geforce 8500 GT video card installed on it. I was surprised to see it run Modern Warfare 2 flawlessly of course with the settings tweaked. Somebody once told me that that was also because MW2 is a DX9.0 game. When I ran dxdiag I noticed that my 8500 GT card supports up to DX11. Does that mean that I also am able to run games that go up to DX11? I realize that I will have to tweak setting lower, balance it out so that I can have excellent resolution and no lagging.

    System specs:
AMD Phenom II X2 Black ed.
    2GB RAM PC-6400
    Geforce 8500 GT video card
    500 GB HDD
    600W PSU

    No the 8500GT is a DX10 card and doesn't support DX11
To run DX11 you should have a GPU that supports it such as Nvidia GTX 400 series and above

The DirectX Version shown in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool is the version of DirectX installed. Windows 7 comes with DirectX 11. I have a lowly GT220 and mine shows DirectX 11 also. My card is only DirectX 10.1 capable.
