    Dual monitor

This post is an FYI for those having issues with Dual monitor setups. I have never had dual monitor, and for the first time, I have it since I recently upgraded my computer (new build really) and got a new, bigger, true HD monitor as well.

The setup I wanted was the new monitor for games and movies, and the old monitor as secondary. But I wanted the new monitor on the right side, and the old one on the left. Due to how things are situated on my desk, the newer, bigger monitor being on the right side puts it closer to me, so that is a desirable location. But if you set the one on the right as the primary monitor, the mouse movement from one screen to another is backwards (you have to move all the way to the right on the monitor on the right to get to the monitor on the left...backwards). Also, I wanted the tool bar on the secondary monitor so that I can play games or movies in full screen mode on the newer, primary monitor.

So here is what you have to do to get it this way. First, make sure the monitor on the right is primary by using ATI or Nvidia tools to set it up how you want it. I have Nvidia. Next, unlock your toolbar and just drag it over to the secondary monitor. Finally, go to the desktop in your primary monitor, right click, and choose Screen Resolution. Apparently, this does not work from the secondary monitor, so make sure you right-click on the primary and do this. When the window pops up, drag the secondary monitor to the left, hit apply, and close. Voila! Your left monitor is secondary, right is primary, and you can move your mouse from left to right correctly.

Hope this helps someone...took me a bit of Googling to get this, and the last part I had to figure out on my own. Another point to consider is that whichever monitor is the "primary" is the one that games will launch into by default, and I cannot find a way to change that, so if you have two different kinds of monitors and you want the best one used for gaming, make sure that one is the primary.

Screen Resolution tool opens and works well also when opened from secondary display. Just right click an empty spot on desktop, whichever display you want to, and select Screen Resolution from context menu.

I did try that and for some reason, it would not save the changes and gave me a message saying it could not be changed. When I did it from the primary screen, it worked fine.

All you do is drag the screen to the side you want it on in the Screen Resolution window.

Yes, I know...and I said, I got a message saying that it couldn't be saved when doing that from the secondary monitor, but doing it from the primary worked.
