    Hdmi

    Hi all
Now for the life of me ive been trying to figure this out and i cant. Yes noobish i know but ive finally given in and am asking.
Now, i have a TV with HDMI input. I also have HDMI output on my GC. Now, easy i thought, plug cable in, turn TV to HDMI and bang all would be good. But it aint. Now can somebody please help me to set this up, i never tried in Vista cos ive only just got this TV. And would dearly love to see if i could get this setup.
If i have this completly wrong then let me know.
    Many Thanks
    Damoh

It's probably your TV and not Vista/Win7. I know on my TV (Samsung LCD), it was specific as to which HDMI plug I was to use for PC input. I addition, even using that HDMI plug-in I also had to "name" that HDMI "PC" on my TV. So check your TV manual for directions....

Mine's that simple, just plug it in to my Sanyo TV HDMI and into my graphics card HDMI port but I have an ATI card. Not sure if what kind of card has any bearing on it or not.

    hi
well i checked the manual and it says ' direct plug and play' lol thats all.
Its a tad strange. When i plug it in, windows plays that boing sound that you get when it finds new hardware, but nothing. Nvidia control panel lists the TV but no matter what i do i cannot get an image on the screen.

Im wondering if a DVI to HDMI adapter would help. I have DVI on my graphics card which is a Nvidia 9500GT

    Thanks all

best use dvi, you have more control over the output. I have a nvidia 8600 gt and i tried the hdmi plug. It did work immediately but you can't control the definition. So the movie plays fine, but the computerscreen is isn't per pixel driven since the card only sees a television if you branch hdmi

i've put a VGA adaptor on the dvi adaptor because my telly has a standard VGA port. Never tried dvi to hdmi, but from what i understand the signals are the same just in a different plug.

You just have to arrive at the point that the card won't recognize your tv as tv but as generic monitor

I few things he said are making me think he's got another monitor -- one in addition to the HDMI-connected TV -- connected at the same time. Perhaps he just needs to extend the desktop?
