Windows 7 - Link failure when using Visual studio and Expression studio products

when i run iether of expression studio and visual studio in full screen or attached to one screen in hydravision by amd i get a link failure on my graphix card, for a good 3 seconds my screen flikers between sky blue and black and then resets and i get a popup saying Catalyst driver /link failure. i dont like not being able to use expression studio so if anyone knows what my problem is, i dont nessesarily need it solved but i hate being in the dark about it also so suggestions are helpful, so are hypothasies on whats going on, please and thank you.
