    Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT

Hello everyone, I recently added the Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT to my computer, it has 512mb of ram, the install went perfect, but whenever i play a game, in my case, world of warcraft. the monitor will turn black as if it wasnt picking up a display, after about 15 minutes into my game, sometimes shorter. the computer continues to run but nothing will show up on the screen, this is ONLY when i play games. never when browsing the net. Any help much appreciated. Oh may i add my computer is DUST FREE the psu is fine and the card runs at about 55C while gaming

Hello there, just to be sure.

What are your PSU specs? and this may sound silly, but have you connected the power cables on the Video Card?

Ok, let's do some trial and error, do you have the latest drivers installed?

Does this happen only when playing WoW or any other game that requieres full screen and DX acceleration?

well im pretty sure its an overheating problem, i took the side of my case off, and now it seems to be running shit fine. my processor is running at 58C though, and its a amd quadcore 9950. Can anyone suggest to me something to buy to reduce my CPU and overall temperatures? nothing TOO expensive. but something decent.

Hmm.. Okay, let's see.. you could remove the side cover of your case as you already did, and point a desk fan blowing air inside, it's not the greatest solution. but it'll keep the temps down for a while, have you changed the thermal compound on the video card? have you checked if the cable management is blocking some of the airflow?

Anyway, the desk fan pointing at the case at max speeds will keep the temps down, at least temporarily. and it won't hurt your computer :)

EDIT: the 58șC is on full load or idle?? if that's an idle temp, we have a big trouble here, 58șC idle on a processor is a bit too high.

full load, but i took a 20mm fan i had in my case from the bottom, and temporarily moved it up top to point at the processor heatsink area, right now i have wow running in the background while im typing and my processor went from 58C at max load to 46C Max load. It's ALWAYS been high, i dont know if its because its a quadcore or wat lol

Just one question what was your old graphic card and did you uninstall the drivers before you took the graphic card out?

Another thing you can try is uninstall the drivers run Driver Sweeper (See my sig for more detail's), then reinstall the latest drivers from Nvidia: Welcome to NVIDIA - World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies
