Windows 7: which is better the 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 or the ati hd 5650

Im trying to decide between two laptops one laptop is the envy 14 and ones the envy 17 and there both made by hp. And I wanted to know which graphics card is better the hp envy 14 has a 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 DDR3 switchable graphics [HDMI] - For Dual Core Processors. And the hp envy 17 has a 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5850 GDDR5 Graphics [HDMI] graphics card. Which graphics card would be better? I was asking because the hp envy 17 is 300 dollar more than the envy 14. The 5850 is better. The price difference is mostly down to the lappy having a 17" screen as aposed to a 14" plus the 17" has an i5 processor and the 14" has an i3

for future reference when comparing two of the same graphics cards such as the two listed below the the higher the number the better the graphics card correct ive always wondered this for example the 5850 is better than the 5650 because it has a higher number is that true?

Yes, it is true hence why the number is higher - to identify better performance.

You must also take into consideration GDDR-3 or GDDR-5 and how many bits it has either 128 or 256 which would be the better card.
