Yes, this was precisely what i've got from the ATI site, where it will appear as Catalyst Control Centre 2 (setup exe ) instead of the normal CCC. At the moment not able to try it out again, have not got the Catalyst 10.1 in the laptop solved.
One issue to note, it was weird that the catalyst was able to load. Settings can be tweaked but the 3D display ( preview of current and new ) was with the wording "LOADING" ... this was when i reinstalled back the 10.1 ( blank installation ) - the 3D settings pop out again with the rest of it . so i assumed that it was just a mere settings interface without connection to the GPU.
Main thing now - needs to get the old CCC removed a.s.a.p with all the remnants!! i'm not computer expert and i really appreciate all the assistance and effort from you guys !!
got from somewhere in a forum that the 550v which was recognized as 4650 in the new GPU driver info, it works finely with a performance upgraded as well...

Re : ATI Catalyst 10.12 For Toshiba/Sony/Acer Notebooks - Get it here!
Many thanks LQDForce, i could upgrade my 7 months old Dell drivers, i won about 10 FPS in 3D applications.
However my ATI Mobility HD 550v is detected as a HD 4650 in the device manager, i guess it's normal :
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 550v - Notebookcheck.net Tech
Now I wonder if there is a simple way to stay updated, I do not want to be stuck at the next release of drivers, have you done something special ? What is the source where you can find these drivers ?
I look forward to your reply and sorry if my English is not "perfect".
