Geforce 550 vs 555 Mobile card

I am looking a purchasing a new laptop and i have two options from dell on what to select. My question is what is the difference between the NVidia GeForce gt 550 1GB card and the GeForce 555M 3GB card?

I can see the specifications on the difference from the 550 vs 555, what about the 1v3GB?

What kind of difference would this make?

The 555M will be slightly faster than the 550M,

as to how much faster won't really be seen until some benchmarks come out.

As for the 3 GB thing, got a link to it? Don't think that will happen as there aren't even desktop cards with that much memory on them.

Nice marketing gimmick if nothing else. Having that much memory on it isn't going to make it that much faster than the 550M, and doubtful that it would be powerful enough to even take advantage of that much.

Not much out there benchmark-wise yet but from the links above it looks to be based on and clocked slightly faster than the GT 445M, so if you go by here,

and around 5-10% to the results there and you will have roughly how the 555M will perform. Same goes with the 550M which similar specs (again slightly faster) than the GT 435M,

Now with all that said, is there $150.00 worth of extra performance between the two? Personally no there isn't, not when it will be around 5-10%.
