Windows 7: OFFICIAL - How to install nVidia driver on Windows 7!

02 Jul 2009   #11

Again - Windows will install it's pre-release / WDDM 1.1 driver (whichever is out now). Go to Nvidia's site, get the latest release, and install it.

If you're having issues with one you've already downloaded, *download it again*.

Otherwise, there is not much else we can do without some *specific* information on what is happening, what program you have running, etc.

Also, Driver Sweeper runs in Safe mode to remove drivers - so it will get rid of all files you have, and after the reboot and the WDDM 1.1 driver installs you can install the nVidia official release driver.

@dinesh - compatibility mode would be rather pointless for a driver already made for your OS....

Vista Ult 64bit - Windows 7 Ult 7264 64bit

IGNORE the Program Compatibility popup if it's the one that says "This program may not have installed correctly", the drivers install correctly, just cancel it or click the "They installed correctly" option.

This has been a bug on many setups for as long as I can remember, I get that with 70% of certain programs and all of them work properly.

If that's not the message you're getting, then I don't know what could be happening right now.

With drivers, unless other software is installing, you should never get that - if you do, then there *is* an issue.

Besides, as I said above, nVidia drivers are W7 specific OOB.
