OFFICIAL - How to install nVidia driver on Windows 7!

I've had it! 3rd time I install Windows 7, 3rd time I'm having ****ty problems because of the Graph Cards driver!

Is there any SIMPLE way to make it work? I have of course already tried to install the driver, but all I got was **** like "This program did not install. Try again later.."

you can just install the nvidia drivers over the top of the old drivers without too much hassle these days.

thats what i have been doing without issue

try re-d/loading the driver, temp disable any download accelerator, and disable anti-virus whilst installing. if you already have then ignore that last bit

Tried installing over but it doesnt work. As soon as I login after uninstalling the last graph driver the windows automatically installs some crappy driver..

An then you install the nVidia driver over it.

Your 8800GTS should have no issues running the latest nVidia driver - however, the fact that you list build 7232 as your OS might 8also* be a factor....

Uninstall the old driver from Device Manager and make sure you check the box that says 'Delete The Driver Software For This Device'. Reboot and then you should be able to install the new driver without an issue.

    Hope this helps

And if it does *not* help, there is always Guru3D - Driver Sweeper - works flawlessly in Windows 7 (I can verify for all builds through 7100).

Try to install the driver in compatibility mode.

Ummm, no - nVidia drivers say Vista /7 already - they fully support Windows 7.

Nix that last - you should have no reason to install in compatibility mode at this point.
