graphic card is having code 43

    Hello.

I just upgraded my vista to win7 and then the graphic card in device manager showed a code 10.

I tried reinstalling the driver and now it shows me: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

    I have Acer Aspire 4810TG.
It has 2 video cards: ATI radeon mobility HD 4330, the one which is having this problem. And the other one is integrated Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. Probably meant for using when working on power saver or smth, don't know.

I tried to disable both of them and them and when I enable ATI, it says no errors anymore but still the highest resolution is 1024x768 so I'm quessing its either not working actually or it is meant for those video cards to work at the same time, then enabled Intel afterwards and ATI starts giving me this code 43 again.

    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Did you remember to install the drivers for both the Intel and ATI? If not get the latest one for it from Acer here,

Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 4810TG

The one you want is version 8.652.1, and it already has the Intel driver in it to work with the switchable graphics that you mentioned. I also came across this,

Acer Aspire 4810TG « The Acer Guy Forum

where they mention that there is a bios setting to choose whether to use the switchable graphics or only one of them. No idea if yours has that option or not, but if it does and is enabled then you have to use the above driver.

If it is and have no idea if it would work or not, but if you set it to only use the ATI instead of both then it is possible that the latest ATI/AMD driver,

    https://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-c...ndows-7-a.html

    will work.

Edit: Should have looked at it before, but just had a better look at the download page for your laptop and checked the FAQ page and found this,

Acer Support: Frequently Asked Questions list for Cannot Install ATI VGA Driver v8.612 in Windows XP

so if you have bios version 1.22 or later then you will have that option in the bios. If not and you would like the option Acer has two bios updates available for it, a 1.35 and a 2.35 on the above download page link.

Jep, that worked, when I set it from switchable to discrete in BIOS.

Since at the start of the week I didn't have a decent internet, I couldn't try the driver that has both Intel and ATI drivers in. I'll do it now and I'll post back here, if I get the switchable thing working, so others with similar problem could get this help.

    Thanks so far.

EDITED: It worked like magic. I have now both video cards working and they are switchable. Thank you, Stormy13.
