    hdmi hdtv

    i hook up a htpc directly to my LG lcd tv through a hdmi cable.

    i recently turned it off and unplugged everything and now that i hooked it back up it does not recognise the tv through hdmi. it will however work through a vga cable

    i have tested the htpc on another smaller lcd screen i have and it works fine through the hdmi connection.

    any thoughts?

    Have you enabled the HDMI input on the TV again?

    OK. You need to fill out your system specs so that people can give you equipment specific advice.

    There are some tricks involved in reaching the service menu on various LG TV's. They do differ somewhat, so I need the specs on yours to see if I have that information for that set.

    Sorry, I don't have the service screen info on that model. Maybe somebody else can find it for you.

    Most of the LG stuff requires a certain button combination, and a password which is usually 0000 . However, I don't advise you to play with it unless you have the relevant information, as it can render your TV useless!

    Another possibility is that the drivers on your PC simply need updating.

    Once again, unless you enter your system specs I don't know what you are using and can't give you any advice.

    You can enter your system specs in your Forum User Control Panel. You can get to your control panel by clicking on your own name in the welcome screen;

    Just a blind shot.

    Right click on the speaker icon in your system tray, click on playback devices and check whether you can do something there.

    A year back when I was connecting my present Desktop as a HTPC (with more or less the same specs and setup (Gigabyte motherboard + 42" LG LCD TV)), I vaguely remember the LG TV shown as a playback device to select as the default device. (Since I am thousands of miles away from home, I cannot check it now)

    So do check on it.
