A quick note: that 400w PSU kinda looks suspect. Do you have anything remotely higher powered?

First thing I'd do atm would be to try the card in another machine to see that it's still A OK..if not well

If it does work then check the rail your cards on to see if it's getting power...if not well

If both of them are A OK then try a repair install of your OS then download drivers..uninstall via Add/Remove programs or device manager then rerinstall new drivers.

It appears windows isn't seeing the card atm as I have a 9600gt currently in my rig/latest vers drivers and no dramas so it's not the drivers that are at fault here.

^ what they said. Sounds like you've done everything you can with respect to drivers.

Code 43 Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

    Recommended resolution

One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.

If you have already run the Troubleshooting Wizard, you might want to check the hardware documentation for more information about diagnosing the problem.

Now, Win7 can detect there is a 9600GT, and the video output from 9600GT normally.
However, I cannot play World of Warcraft because of the code 43.
I searched lots of post who suffered this 9600GT issue, and pm them how they solved this problem.
Perhaps, I guess "ASUS" 9600GT 512MB has some compatibility issue.
But I dunno why, since I just used this 9600GT with same Win7 at last PC.
    So, I bought Galaxy GTS4500 1GB GDDR5. $103

if i recall the solution should be to completly remove all traces of the drivers using sweapers and such and then running a checkdisk which should resolve the error..worked for most of the code 43's i've had to deal with but not all on occasion the faster solution was just reinstall not preferable but a hell of a lot quicker.
