I'm stuck on 1024x768 with a 16:9 monitor. I can't get any of the drivers to install properly, all of them give the complaint seen in the attachment.

The reason I'm on Windows 7 is i had a head crash on my old Hard drive and HP refused to give me another copy of Vista for anything less than $200. I still have my old Activation code but they didn't quite understand that.

so here i am with 7, just trying to get my computer back up to 100%. any help?

This is now resolved.

If you have the old code, i know some might see this as wrong (maybe) but couldn't you acquire a cd off the net? either way just run compat mode for vista

I would do that, but I'm somewhat wary of OS's from someone other than a reputable distributor.

Edit: Ran it in compatibility mode. No problems now. :)

Thanks!

I understand your concern, then i'd say borrow it from a friend. lol I had to borrow my friends XP to get this installed cause I have lent out ALL my cds to other friends and never got them back LOL so me saying get it from a friend is funny cause i've always been that friend. =( So my only OS atm is this beta crap. I usually run linux but I'm out of cds to burn a install disc =( so many problems

Did you get this driver from Nvidia or the HP site? HP wraps the nvidia driver into a modified installer pack that does an extra version check that may cause the failure. If you're using an HP driver, try one directly from Nvidia for your graphics adapter.
What driver version are you trying to install?
And you're SURE you have a 32bit build installed? The installer seems to think differently it seems, double check your build in the System applet in Control Panel.

yes. it's a 32 bit installation.

and i was getting them from nVidia.

seems everything is working fine now though. Just ran it with Vista Compatibility. Didn't know windows had that function. never had a problem with it until now.

Good stuff, there's another option I usually do if I can't get drivers to install I use devmgmt.msc works wonders. Though that doesn't always work either as nvidia installs it's CP and I'm rather fond of the nvidia CP.

[EDIT] It might install the CP now that I think about it, though I haven't done that for a bit though, I'll look into it. lol now I'm curious
