    Help choosing a graphics card?

    Hi,
I was just wondering if this graphics card from Ebay (official link here) is a good (or at least decent) graphics card. I was also wondering if it is compatible with my current computer. If not, can anyone think of any other good but cheap, graphics card I might be able to use?

    Thanks,
    Jaidyn

It will work if your Board has a PCI Express slot

Thanks, yowanvista. Is there anyway to check this short off having to take my computer apart? A website, progran, something simple perhaps?

What is the exact model of your Board?
Use CPU-Z to find out if your board has a PCI Express slot, its located in the 'mainboard' tab of the program http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Relax JaidynM, your board surely has a PCI express slot, all motherboards have had atleast one for the past few years! Go ahead and buy it but don't expect too much from it if you play games as well (I have the laptop version of the 5470 and it played most games on low-medium settings). You should get a ATI 5770/nvidia gts 450 atleast if you want to play more than the casual facebook or old games imo.

PS: Going by your system specs I guess you have an Intel branded G41 based motherboard.

its a 775 so it has slots for your card...the card however is ummm ordinary....I'd be looking at a 6850/560 if possible...buying out dated cards is a waste of money imo as it will get really old really fast and you will need yet another card.
    cheers

They also sell the 1Gb version of the card.
Most people don't need 2Gb of memory on a card, plus you can save some money.

Whether it's "good" or not depends entirely on what you ask the card to do? If you're just running an htpc, or reading emails, then yes, it's good. If however, you're asking it to game, then no, it's not very good at all.

Without a doubt, we need to know what you intend to do with this card. mainly, are you a gamer or not? My guess is you are not...if you are looking at this particular card.
