How do you get HDMI output

I've just got a new laptop a Samsung RV418, which has a HDMI output. I've tried to get a picture from the laptop to my TV but with no success. The Fn4 key only toggles between the laptop screen and an external monitor but no picture arrives on the TV.

Any suggestions on how to get the HDMI output. I've checked the HDMI cable is OK and that i have specified the right HDMI input on the TV. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate.

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum

If you right click on an empty part of the screen and select screen resolution. your TV should show up here it may need activating see piccy.

    I hope this helps

Are you plugging in the HDMI cable to the TV, and powering on the TV before booting up the laptop?

Pooch thanks for the suggestion. I clicked on the screen resolution but the picture only showed the 2 screens laptop and monitor not the TV. Do i need to 'activate' it, how do i do that? Sorry to be dense.

you will only need to make an adjustment when it shows up as above in the picture I can only use two screens at a time on my setup. I only activate (Extend desktop to this display) the third screen (NO.1 in the picture) when I want to watch films.
Your set up should look like this as well.
Have you tried disconnecting your monitor before trying to connect the TV?
I have just been reading that some laptop graphic chips will not support three screens if this is the case for you it means that you will have to turn off the laptop display to use the HDMI.
