Possible Fix For Display Adapter Has Stopped Working
I have dealt with this a few times now. Each time I would go to the extreme end and format.
Today, I may have found a combined fix made up from a few ideas that have floated around the web.
I do a lot of video editing ( Adobe Premiere pro CS5 ). I also game ( WoW ) and view a ton of you-tubes.
One thing I noticed was that if I had multi-Tabs open in Firefox each switch of a tab would cause the "Display adapter has stopped working" bug, NOT just on videos.
System Specs should be in my profile but here is the base as well::
Windows 7 Ultimate 64
Intel core i7 920 ( not OC'd )
12 GB System Ram
Nvidia GTX 460 1 GB ( default settings )
What I did today was reboot into safe mode and deleted all instances of my old video drivers and video card in Programs as well as in Devise Manager.
This took several times ( i think 3 total ). To clear all mention of my card.
When that was done I was looking at a VGA screen.
I then installed fresh 285.62 Nvidia Drivers.
I did custom install and did not install any 3D options.
I went to 3D settings and set my PhysX to my card.
Now whether this was caused by overlapping installs which corrupted my video drivers or a combination of those 3 steps above, I have had ZERO crashes or Video Restarts since doing it. I have viewed about 50+ You Tubes and ran Premiere Pro, which I could not do 4 hours ago.
I have 6 tabs open right now and have let them sit for a few minutes each and have opened them at random times.
So far, so good, my fingers are crossed.
