No HDMI signal Hi I have just built a PC with the ASUS M4A88T-M motherboard which has Radeon HD 4250 on board graphics. OS is Windows 7 Pro. I have installed all the motherboard/graphics drivers that were supplied on the CD, but I cannot get any video or audio output from the HDMI slot. I know that there are sometimes issues getting the audio through the HDMI cable but there is no video signal either. The VGS & DVI slots are fine, and also using a DVI-HDMI cable works, but then I have to use separate audio cables.
Do you have to enable HDMI within Windows anywhere ? I have tried two different TV’s with no signal on either, so it seems to be a PC issue. Any help appreciated. | My System Specs |

You can try to download the latest drivers from here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS M4A88T-M/USB3
Failing that, You can try to exchange the motherboard (for OEM Windows 7 to activate the replacement board must be the SAME model), or look into getting a video card | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number homemade OS windows 7 ultimate 64 bit CPU FX 8350@4300mhz COOLER MASTER Seidon 120M water cooler Motherboard ASRock 990FX Extreme4 AM3+ Memory 16gb Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 Graphics Card Sapphire 5850 & XFX 5850 crossfire Monitor(s) Displays hanns g 1680X1050 Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard z merc Mouse Logitech wireless m705 PSU dual Antec 650 & Rosewill 530 watt continuous Case homemade Cooling 4 120mm@50cfm each/2 120mm@90cfm Hard Drives ADATA 256 gig SSD + 2 junk Internet Speed dsl |

The only setting in the bios regarding HDMI is to enable or disable the audio portion. Is the HDMI connection the only one being used or are you using the VGA at the same time?
P.S. That driver at Asus is far from the latest and over a year old. Asus is one of the worst for updating their download pages, and most of the time you're lucky if the drivers they offer are much newer than what comes on the driver disk. Good thing is that it is a desktop and not a laptop, so the latest directly from AMD will work with it no problem, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7 | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS Win 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Phenom II x4 955 @ 4 GHz. Hi
Things have moved on a little....
I connected a second screen and forced the HDMI connection to be the primary display, so I now have a HDMI signal.
There is now a slightly wierd issue with the audio....
When I boot the PC, there is no audio through the HDMI cable. If I reboot with the TV still on, I will then have audio. It appears that if I turn off the TV between reboots, then I lose the audio signal. I looked at the audio control panel during this process and noticed the following:
On first boot, the digital output (HDMI) is set as default, as you would expect it to be. This results in no audio.
After a reboot with the TV on, the control panel then shows no device set as default, and I get audio. I cannot deselect a default and save that setting.
The TV is a 42" Panasonic Viera.
This seems a little strange to me, any ideas ?

The TVI had a similar problem upstairs on my htpc. Radeon 5450>hdmi 2.0 to Receiver>Receiver to TV.
Just like you I'd lose the AMD audio is a 42" Panasonic Viera. Hi garyeys,
I had a similar problem upstairs on my htpc. Radeon 5450>hdmi 2.0 to Receiver>Receiver to TV.
Just like you I'd lose the AMD audio if I turned off the TV or booted up with the TV off, or even with the receiver off. I noticed that when this happened the playback device had switched from AMD to S/PDIF.
First I tried setting AMD as the default device... but that didn't work. Finally, I just deleted the S/PDIF from the list and the problem hasn't happened since. | My System Specs | | OS 7 Ultimate x64 CPU i5-2500k Motherboard Asus P8P67 Pro Memory 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH 1866MHz 8-9-8-24 Graphics Card EVGA GTX 570 SC Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fatality Monitor(s) Displays Samsung S27A550H 27" LED Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard MS Natural Elite 4000 Ergonomic Mouse Logitech G500 PSU PC Power & Cooling Silencer 760 Case Lian Li Lancool K62 Cooling Thermalright Venomous X Black/Scythe S-Flex/Shin-Etsu X23 Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 3 120GB.

I agree with Fumz that you should disable other audio options; it seems like your computer is trying to auto-detect and is doing so inproperly. I believe if you disable the other audio options completely(not so much uninstall/delete, just disable) it should work fine. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba A505-S6960 OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 / 2.1 GHz Memory 4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 398MHz (6-6-6-18) Graphics Card Onboard - Intel GMA 4500MHD 128MB Sound Card Onboard |
