Acer Aspire 5920g and gfx probs

Hi guys

I'm hoping you can help me with a annoying problem....

About 4 years ago i bought this Acer Aspire 5920g with Vista as the OS..
Back then i didn't like it, so i switched to XP.. Then Windows 7 came and i got that on board.

Now, i'm a sucker for reinstalling the OS, when i feel my comp is getting slower and always with a good result, when installing the drivers... Until now...

Now, when i try to install my gfx driver (It's an nVidia Geforce 8600GT) it goes bananas and ends up in a 256 color 640x480 resolution.....

I've tried and tried and asked friends, but no one can help me, so i'm trying you guys now......

WTF to do? :S

Thanks in advance

What driver version are you running/trying to install? The latest are the 275.33's.

Try this: uninstall the nvidia drivers. When prompted to reboot, don't; instad, go to C: nvidia and delete the folder named display drivers. Reboot into Safe Mode and run Driver Sweeper. Put a check mark in the nvidia display driver box and then run it. Then reboot and install the current set, 275.33, then see if you can properly adjust your settings.

Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Download and install this ^. Don't try and run it within Windows, it won't work.... it only works in Safe Mode.
