    video not playing on win7

    Hi,

    Thanks for reading my post.
I just installed WIN 7 on my laptop. Everything went well..
but i am not able to play any videos (any format) on wmp or media center .. i even tried jetaudio... m laptop just hangs...
I figured it was driver issue,,, so i updated the vga driver but still ....

    System specs:
    Processor:AMD turion 64 ML -34 processor
    Laptop make: Acer aspire 5004
It has onboard graphics card (SIS 760 GX) with 1.5gb of ram....
Please help me find the needed driver otherwise i would have to revert back to XP.....

WIN 7 is much faster than XP ... please

OK..... so you updated your GFX drivers, what are the temps like on your laptop..??
it could be overheating when stressed

download this app & have it running when the system locks up..... Everest

    then report back.....

what temps do you have idle..?? does it feel like it runs hot..??, it seems to me whenever you try anything complex it freezes, i take it before you put W7 on the lappy worked fine, yes..??

try this...... download this app ORTHOS its a stress tester, this will determine if its only a driver problem or it is infact H/W related, if the system freezes or fails when you run it then its not just video related...

    1. No it doesnt run hot... and runs at same optimum temprature same as in Xp.. i tested it in everest..
    2. As far as complex is concerned i ran all office applications i.e. outlook , powerpint , visio, one note , (all 2007 one'e) on it ... it ran well simultanously

Ya you are right in XP everything runs perfectly….the only issue I am facing is with video only with WIN 7 …
I will come back with results with “orthos” by tomorrow

I think the issue might be with SiS GFX and Windows 7 because I have a SiS integrated GFX and have issues playing video no matter what drivers I use or compatibility settings.

Tried drivers from Intel's website with XP compatibility, drivers from Windows Update and a combination of the two, only time I can actually play the video without the screen freaking out is with no drivers installed at all.

try installing vlc player, i am currently using both it and wmp on my lap with integrated graphics with just great results. if you can run vlc without issue, then that eliminates some potential lines of thought or narrows down potential issue.
