Hi There,
I've got a problem with installing my Sapphire 3650 AGP 512BM GDDR Graphics card on Windows 7 64 Bit.
When i install "AMD Catalyst 11.6 Hotfix for Windows 7 / Windows Vista 64-bit Edition for Windows 7 64-bit Edition" from the sapphire website i get a few problems.
Problem #1: after installing and rebooting windows shuts down just before opening the windows welcome screen.
Problem #2: after installing it through windows, opening device control, updating the "standard VGA Card" with the *.inf file from the above mentioned software didn't work. It showed a grafics card called Readon 2600 XT or something like that.
After rebooting windows gave me a blue error screen. I've also tried different software from visiontek...that gave me also the 2600 XT grafics card.
I've also tried lower versions of catalyst 11.6 / 11.4 / 10.6 and with out any luck. I've tried searching google for this problem but it didn't gave me any solutions
***This is what someone else on this forum said: (no respons from the person due to an old post) That method should work with the hotfix driver but it also works well for the normal non-hotfix Catalyst driver too, even though the card is AGP. I don't use hotfixes any longer as they haven't been necessary for many months.
The only thing I can think of is that you're using the wrong .inf in either the wrong folder or right one. (Or again, could be chipset but I'd try this first.)
Download the normal Catalyst 9.9 32 bit for Windows 7 and extract it to C:\ATI.
Here is the .inf you should use. Download it and copy/paste it directly over the existing one in C:\ATI\Support\9-9_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7_INF

Now install using device manager the same as you did before.
Here is a link mirror in case the first one is downloaded too much and can not be downloaded any longer -

The links in that post arent working any more. So i've not yet been able to try this out. Does any have a solution to this problem en or have a correct *.inf file that works on Windows 7 x64.
Many thanks
