Intel graphics accelerator for xp (r) stops responding and recovers?
Yeah, I joined this forum specifically because you guys seem incredibly knowledgeable on this type of thing, but I'll probably be sticking around.
First off, let me give you the info on my laptop, which, for the record, is a Dell Inspiron 1440 with Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it.
Processor: Pentium Dual-Core CPU, Model Number T4300 Running @ 2.10GHz 2.10GHz
RAM: 3.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System
Video Card: Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset Family
Alright, that said, on with the actual issue. I got Portal 2 yesterday and installed it along with Steam, and I immediately started playing it, managing to get through a few levels before I went out to go get dinner, leaving the laptop in sleep mode after exiting the game. After I got back, I opened it back up, signed back in, and started up the game. It lasted up until the end of a load screen, and does every time- whenever I hit 'Continue' or load my game, it'll load up to the end- then my screen goes black, the start of a sound clip begins constantly repeating, and when the screen comes back, its on my desktop with a notice in the corner saying 'Intel graphics accelerator for xp (r) stopped responding and has recovered'. If I don't do anything to minimize Portal 2, it keeps doing this in a continuous loop until I finally close it using Task Manager. I tried looking this up- several times- and the only REAL answer I've found is 'download a previous version of it', but I have no idea where to find that, or if this can even be FIXED by that. If it is, can someone give me a link to download said previous version? And if it isn't, can someone tell me how I can fix this?
