[HELP]I'm scared that my graphics card might get wrecked!

hi guys, i just played a game and and set graphics to medium/average. i have a program that came with the graphic card that manages temperatures. When i was playing i checked the temperature and it was 85 degrees C. I was so terrified when i saw this number. 85 is very hot.

is my graphic card overheating? btw, my Graphic card is fanless and has a black thingy covering it.
the program also lets me choose what engine clock, memory clock to run. to lower the temperature of the graphic card, should i lower the engine clock or memory clock or both?
i just want to know if engine clock or memory clock affects the graphic card temperature.

For a video card, 85C is normal, albeit hot for an 8500 but it's normal nonetheless.

How's the airflow in your case? If you want to lower the temps, direct some airflow over the card to keep it cooler. I'm going to assume that black thingy is either a shroud or a bracket to prevent the card from bending under stress.

oh, what so whats the range of the temperature of overheating. eg 90C+?

also, to decrease the temperature, should i decrease my engine clock, or memory clock or both?

nope, don't reduce the clocks, you'll get slower performance. don't worry about it its normal,

you should worry when it gets to 120-200 or something, but then again you won't be able to worry when its fried

I have a silent 8500 here (no fans, passive cooling) and when at max capacity, it goes to 85-88 degrees and it's normal.

i also, have a "shader" bar that could be adjusted, should i increase it?

Shader clock speed? Hm...can't comment on that; haven't owned an nVidia card since the G71.

If you want to burn out your card then go ahead and play with the shader controls, otherwise i would leave it alone, 9x out of 10 you will break your hardware, changing that slider will just bring more heat to the card and reduce the lifespan of the hardware.
