Windows 7 RC

None of the above worked for me. I have an ACER 2601WLCi laptop and here is what worked ok. Do a manual installation.

My T42 is stable with windows 7 RTM, using this driver. No 3d, but the graphics index went up to 1.9.

Windows 7 (Build 7600-16385)

Do NOT do this. This ended up hosing my display. Good thing for driver rollback.

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

*Smacks unknownone in the back of the head*

EDIT: Hey unknownone, make sure of your chip first instead of hosing everyones laptops.

Then under Device Manager choose to Update Driver (under the Generic VGA) , select Brows My Computer; choose Let Me Pick, say Have Disk and browse to the above folder ( C:\swsetup\SP27665\Driver\2KXP_INF). 2 options appeared for me, I chose the first, my system start dinging and flashing a few times (around 10) and then all was normal. I did not say to reboot, but I tested Freecell and it said there was no hardware acceleration still, so then I did a reboot and presto! no more message about Hardware acceleration being disabled and the cards fanned out in there fancy way. I've only done this about 5 minutes ago, so I don't know how things will function long term, although I've also only been running 7 for about an hour... Hope this helps.
Thanks Rwczen, this worked for me and I'm very happy! All devices on my 6 year old laptop work and it's now much faster than Windows XP!

Thanks again, Ben

directx features & Mediaportal/Windows Media Center

Hi guys,

I installed one of the drivers described above (have to check which one on a compaq N800C
I can use Mplayerc HC (EVR) /Media player to play videos without issues, but I can't get MediaPortal or Windows MEdia Center to start.
Both complain on the Directx or driver from the card. (32Mb).

Mediaportal is working on XP on that machine.

Dxdiag does not show any issues.

Can someone confirm they can or can not use the builtin mediacenter or mediaportal on a mobility 7500 ?

many thanks

I got Windows Media Center to work by tweaking the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Display Settings

Then Add 2 DWORD KEYS called DisableDxCheck and DisableDx9CapsCheck and set both their values to 1 and media center should start without problems

But it's slow.

So for MediaPortal I guess developers would need to help

for Mediaportal, I found out that they are loading big bitmaps into the GPU mem for the skins.
Using a 'low-mem' rescaled skin version , solved the issue !

Hey guys thanks for the read. I just installed the CX_30152 driver for my Compaq N610c with a Radeon 7500 and it seems to be working good so far. Now I just have to see if the onboard sound is possible
