    Onboard graphix won't let go

I’m having problems updating my video drivers. I have a Gateway DX4600 with Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I go to AMD and get the correct drivers and it goes through its install process but always hits the same wall. It tells me I have the incorrect drivers and when I look at the log it has my onboard video listed and not the HD4650 that my monitor is plugged into. I have gone into the device manager and it has both cards listed. I have disabled the onboard one but it keeps re-enabling itself whenever the system if restarted. Please help me get this issue fixed.

Hello there, Moolro. Welcome to SevenForums.

Have you disabled the Onboard GFX Card in the BIOS instead of disabling it via device manager? that could be the problem.

    Try to do this:

    1) uninstall the video driver (if you have one installed)
    2) boot up and go into the BIOS, disable the onboard graphics (can't tell you exactly where is that option)
    3) keep the monitor connected to the HD4650, boot into windows
    4) install updated drivers and directx
    5) chill back and enjoy some nice coffee.

    Here's what you need:

    AMD Graphics Drivers & Software
Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - DirectX End-User Runtime
