Have two ATI cards, but crossfire is disabled.

I've been dealing with this issue since the end of 2009, I got frustrated seeing as no one I knew could help me with this issue so I put it aside until now. It seems to be a waste of money to have purchased two cards for crossfire and not being able to use it.

I have the bridge connected, all the drivers are up to date, etc. Here's a screenshot of both cards in GPU-Z showing that my computer recognizes both cards yet the crossfire feature is shown as "disabled" on the bottom of the pic.

The sevenforums has been a great deal of help while I was building this rig back in 2009 so I hope I can look to you great people once again in hopes of helping me find a working solution!

It's possible there's a speed issue. Check to see if you can adjust the PCIe bandwidth, either 8x/8x or 16x/16x if your board allows for such.

You can also try something a bit unorthodox: uninstall the drivers, then re-install the drivers for each card one at a time and then link the two up and see if that works.

Here is a pic of mine, the cards are a bit older but just to see if there is any difference between the two readings, apart from yours being stronger and faster etc in places, I notice that my pic shows the boxes at the bottom not ticked, on my card.
Now I am not saying that this is the cause but it may well be, if you know how to untick them it might be worth a try, I don't even know if it is possible to untick them, to see if it helps, another thing to check is that you have the bridge on the correct way, and on to the correct pins of your cards.


Also have you downloaded CCC to mark the cards as active/ enabled ?

Where did you find info about my motherboard?? When I first built the computer back in late 2008 I only had one card at the time, perhaps I need to switch the pin formation to enable this crossfire mode.

Tried the second suggestion, uninstalling and reinstalling one at a time just now. Will check the BIOS again for a PCIe setting in a minute. Thanks!

I am unable to untick them, it just shows that those settings are enabled.

another thing to check is that you have the bridge on the correct way, and on to the correct pins of your cards

I don't know what the correct pins are, but the bridge has the word "Crossfire" facing the HD outputs away from the bulk of the card.

Also have you downloaded CCC to mark the cards as active/ enabled ?

My CCC does not show a setting for crossfire :/

and other than that you actually filled in your system specs when you signed up...

Crap, my Mobo is so old I don't think there's an online manual to help me change the (jumper) pin setup for crossfire Will keep looking for one though, I have a strong feeling this is it.

For crossfire setups do you need an additional dvi-i connector to connect the master card to the slave card also? Or will I be able to run a single dvi-i connector out from the master card to the monitor alone?
