Dual monitor problem - 2nd monitor is blank I have dual monitors set up for extended displays. The monitors are correctly positioned in the virtual display. When I move a window to the second monitor, it disappears from monitor 1 but doesn't show up in monitor 2 - that screen is black. Thanks

Please see system specs now filled in. Yes the monitor is turned on and the display driver has been updated. I don't understand the question about the proper input setting for the second monitor. This dual monitor configuration had worked fine until I moved the equipment from one room to another. Also upgraded from Home Premium to Professional version. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell inspiron OS Windows 7 Professional 32 bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 2.20 GHz Memory 3GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series Monitor(s) Displays HP 23" and Samsung SyncMaster 17" |

Susan,
Which screen is the 2nd non functioning screen? The monitors should have several different types of connections in back, just spin it around and tell me which connection that monitor has ? DVI / VGA / HDMI etc. Likely it has a blue VGA and a white DVI connector, which is being used. Then when you turn the monitor on you must go to it's menu and make sure the connected input is selected to that same input.....hope that helps. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number A blend of brains, brawn and dumb luck ! The 2nd monitor (the blank screen one) has a VGA connector which is plugged into the computer's VGA port. Where is its menu? Thanks for your help. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell inspiron OS Windows 7 Professional 32 bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 2.20 GHz Memory 3GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series Monitor(s) Displays HP 23" and Samsung SyncMaster 17" |

Do you have the manual for that monitor, otherwise on it should be some buttons for making screen adjustments and I can only hope that one is clearly marked menu, hit that button then with luck you can use the other buttons to move through the menu and see a tab or something called input and make sure it's indicating the VGA input, maybe even move it off and then back on the VGA setting. Are all the cables made properly? on tight and such? You can even switch the monitors to make sure the black one currently still works. Does the back of the video card/computer video outputs have one blue and one white output? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number A blend of brains, brawn and dumb luck ! Check the refresh rate of 2nd monitor. Sometimes it needs to be adjusted. Right click blank area of desktop, select resolution, a new window will pop up and select advance settings, a new window pops up and select monitor tab and then click then select refresh rate and change it from 60 htz to 75 htz. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit CPU AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Motherboard Asus M4N78 Pro Memory GSkill 4 X 2 GB PC 8500 Graphics Card PowerColor Radeon HD 4870 512mb GDDR5 Sound Card On board VIA High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dual monitors: HP W1907 LCD 19" and Gateway HD Display 19" L Screen Resolution 1440x900 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Razor DeathAdder PSU Ultra X4 750 watt fully modular Case Ultra E-Torque mid tower ATX Cooling Core-Contact 92 mm CPU Cooler Hard Drives Seagate Barracuda 1TB (primary)

I know the 2nd monitor works because I've connected it by itself as a stand-alone and it works fine plugged into the VGA port. The monitor has blue and white outputs, I'm using the blue one. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell inspiron OS Windows 7 Professional 32 bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 2.20 GHz Memory 3GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series Monitor(s) Displays HP 23" and Samsung SyncMaster 17" Dual monitor problem - 2nd monitor is blank problems?
