    Resolution problem


    Hi Gang

    Its been a while since I was last on here with a problem, thats the good news but now having a problem here I am.

    I have a Samsung 22" monitor, 2 computers connected with a KVM switch, both computers are set up about the same, one has Win 7 Pro and the other one Ult. No problem at all with the one the resolution stays the same, the Icons are always where I leave them, etc. The resolution is set at 1680 X 1050 that is what is recommended.

    Now on the other computer every time it is shut down and started up the Icons are moved and the resolution is wrong, and the monitor puts out this little box saying it needs the resolution to be set at 1680X 1050. So I click on Control Panel, and in the little boxes it says my monitor is a generic, and the wrong resolution, so I click on adjust resolution, and click on detect, and it brings up my Samsung monitor, with the correct resolution, and I have the choice of ok, cancel, and apply is grayed out. So I click on my only choice of ok. Now I have to do this every time I shut it off and turn it back on, like over night.

    Question is why is the apply grayed out. As far as I can tell it has all the latest and greatest drivers, for the Video card, and Monitor. The Monitor is a Samsung 226BW.

    Reslutions and Detecting wrong monitor issue


    Add a video EDID/DDC emulator between the device and connected system will solve the problem.

    The issue was caused by incorrect EDID information feed to the computer system or
    the EDID feeding did not maintained all the time.

    Google "Full-time DDC/EDID" and you will find a lots information regarding how to solve the problem. It's a frequently found issue with old KVM switches or video switches/extenders which can not pass the correct EDID information to connected systems.

hello, I am using Windows 7 and Windows 2008 server(dual boot). My problem is that Windows 7 cant resolve DNS on its own but Windows 2008 server does, so that adds to my anxiety that why cant Windows 7 also do it on its own. ????

Resolution problem

Hello, I used to run on 1440 x 900 using vista 32 bit. When I installed windows 7, it changed to Generic PnP Monitor and on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. It won't allow me to change the resolution to 1440 x 900, the variable does not exist from 12x - 16x. Help, please? :cry: ~maplr4life
