    6870 dual monitor fail

I've got a Sapphire Radeon 6870 that seems to have only one working DVI port, of the two on it. Both sets of cables work, one is brand new. Both monitors work. I can't use the HDMI out as I don't have an extension cable. I've tried using just the one that apparently doesn't work after a restart, nothing. I have no clue what's going on. I have the sapphire TRIXX utility to control fan profile, and AMD overdrive to control clock speeds, as well as the basic drivers for the card.

Your problem is that you have one monitor that can use DVI (206BW) and one that is VGA only (920Nx), and a video card that only supports VGA/analogue on one of its two DVI ports. You need to figure out which of the two is the one that supports VGA when using the DVI-VGA adapter, and connect the older VGA only monitor to it.

Ah... ha. So I need to go get a DVI cable, rather than using two VGA cables and adapters. *head desk* Well that's a little more understandable.

    That would fix it definitely.

If you have the option to go HDMI that would eliminate one and the other could be dvi or vga what ever you prefer

I myself have one hooked up through hdmi and vga and work flawlessly
