THe peak is normal. Depends on card and also if you are using one or two monitors. if only one montir then 60 is a bit high, but if two monitors then that is normal too.

My 480 (I think it is) idles at 60 and hits about 95 during peak gaming. And that's "normal" for that card with two monitors.

Nope, I use the card and the normal temp is usually 34C when not under stress, and never goes above 50C when under stress, you got yourself a hot-box buddy.
How long have you had the card?

    Are we talking load temps??
75-80C load is typically considered normal for most Nvidia GPUs.

My 570 will run at about 75C full load with default fan profiles.
60-65C with my own fan profile.

If you do not mind it being a bit louder,, you try something like Afterburner or Precision and make your own custom fan profiles.

I'm running dual monitors on a 460GTX SC, and it idles at ~ 51 degrees. 60 sounds somewhat high to me, but then it is a different card.

You did say GTS 450 here is mine on idle in a well cooled case.
The card has 2 fans. I thought I saw some pics with just one fan.

sorry for too late reply, the graphic card is brand new, 3 days old. Normal temp is 50C and when I am playing some game it goes up to 70 C. Its on 1 monitor. When I touch the part of the pc where the GPU is located its too hot. Could damage anything on my PC ? or the gpu might be damaged ?

Here is another example of a different Nvidia card. This time in a poky little ACER Aspire case crammed (only slot) right up at the top of the case. Ambient temp is ~18C. I'm using the same SIW software in the post above. Look at the difference in temps.

On a warm day with the card doing a some work the top of the case can get too hot for my liking.

I think ambient temp, position in your case and case air flow can have a big impact. If all these parameters are good and it was my card I'd try to return it for peace of mind if I could.
