I have a HP 4535s laptop with Windows 7 Home 64. This worked for me some 10 minutes ago:
- Right-click on Computer and click on Properties.
- A new window appears. Click Device Manager in the upper left corner
- A Device Manager window appears. Double-click on Monitors in the list. In my case there was just one monitor shown, Generic PnP Monitor.
- Right-click on that monitor and choose Uninstall. Click OK to confirm.
- In the same Device Manager window, click on Action, then Scan for hardware changes.
- After a short while, Windows recognizes the monitor and reinstalls it. The brightness adjustment ability is then restored back to normal.
- Close Device Manager.

This is the solution that it is already provided there.

HOLY SH**! CONFIRMED! Just tried this method tonight and BOOM it worked! Had this brightness issue for well over a month but didn't really put any attention to it as it wasn't my main laptop. (2nd laptop, smaller gamer pc but mainly for type writing and movies)

[[[SPECS: Lenovo Ideapad y480 w/ Win7 Ultimate x64, 8gb ram, nvidia geforce GT 640M LE, 120gb SSD OCZ vertex2 + Seagate 750gb 7200rpm]]]

IT WORKS! I'M SO HAPPY! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!

If you have installed teamviewer and the teamviewer's driver provided for your screen (that it is can be done from advanced settings in version 6) RESTORE IT to the previous monitor driver and it will work instantly!!!!

If you don't know if the driver is installed just locate the monitor in device manager. The teamviewer's driver is named teamviewer monitor driver or something like that... It was for me easy enough to understand the difference...
Well at this point just RESTORE PREVIOUS MONITOR DRIVER (NO UNISTALL) in 7 (or xp or vista)

For all others that DO NOT HAVE TEAMVIEWER installed I suggest to reinstall the ORIGINAL MONITOR DRIVERS and NOT DISPLAY DRIVERS CARDS brightness control seems to be depended from monitor drivers.

Please add the solutions that were found in topic start.
Yes, it works. I'm using TeamViewer 9, but still the problem with monitor driver exists! Why this problem has not fixed from version 6 ?!!!

I knew that i have installed a program which caused this problem, but cannot find it! I have reinstalled graphic card's driver, restart computer many times, using safe mode,... bot none works! (I'm using Vostro 3350)

Thank You Man.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Since this thread was full of good suggestions, I have another to add.
I installed Windows 7 on my ASUS laptop, and post-install I had no options to change brightness (hotkeys didn't work, no slider in power options, no block in mobility centre). I tried the Intel Driver Update Utility, ASUS Live Update and the Splendid Utility, installed the ATK keyboard utility, tried the monitor driver un/reinstall in the device manager, and none of them worked. Finally, persistent googling brought me to the Intel website for the countless time, where I was able to find the HD Graphics drivers to install manually. It finally worked! You might think the Intel Driver Update would do this for you, but it didn't. Here is the link:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/dow...7-8-8-1-64-bit
Hopefully this helps you if you've had the same problems I've had.

PS: This also got f.lux to work for me, which I had hoped might be a substitute for fixing the brightness controls, but didn't.
