Bring Your Dead Graphic Card To Life!

When My Graphic Card, 8800 Gt Died, I Revived It In The Oven. I Know It Sounds Weird But It Worked! But Firstly - Attempt such a repair completely at your own risk, I take no responsibility.

Afix like this means that the GPU was overheated and when it cooled down the souder joints broke. Putting it into the oven just tempuarliy will fix the card. Next time when it overheats it will be over.

Back when i had my 8800 GTS i'd heard about the oven trick when it also started to artifact/crash etc but instead i used a heatgun. It worked for another 12 months after that for me and funny enough my friend who bought all my old rig off me (Who knew about what i'd done to fix it) is still using it to this day after another 6+ months

Basically the way i look at it is if you get just the right amount of heat in the affected area. Of course this is a matter of luck unless you know exactly were the offending solder point is, which is usually under the main GPU chip itself. I also use the heatgun trick on Xbox 360's for friends when they get the red ring of death. Not had a single one returned yet.

I bought a scrap Dell XPS M1710 with a faulty graphic card off ebay almost 2years ago , baked the card ( which is still going strong ) Play a few games ,but mostly do intense graphic work using solidworks and autocad inventer ( for my ex company) , I run a little fan control proggy called I8Kgui to control the gpu temps

The old bake the graphics card resurrection conversations again.
The only thing I would add to this thread is to use extreme caution, a well ventilated kitchen and proceed at your own risk.
After all we're talking about potentially hazardous conditions best suited for the advanced geekers.
